In the afternoon of Aug. 20, 2013, Premier Li Keqiang met with President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya at the Great Hall of the People.
Li Keqiang said, since the establishment of diplomatic relationship between the two countries, China-Kenya relations have enjoyed sustainable and healthy development. President Xi Jinping held fruitful talks with you yesterday. China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Kenya in all fields to push forward China-Kenya relationship to a new high. China supports Africa’s efforts to realize integration and to independently resolve issues in Africa. China is willing to contribute to promoting peace and development in Africa.
Li Keqiang pointed out that, China, as a big developing country, is prone to frequent natural disasters. Some disaster-stricken areas are suffering from poverty plus disaster. The Chinese government, while striving to promote development and improve people’s livelihood, has always attached great importance to the safety of people’s life. China is now taking prompt and resolute measures to cope with floods and other natural disasters. China and Africa are facing common tasks and challenges in the fields of disaster prevention and relief, as well as poverty reduction. The two sides may share experiences in this regard, enhance cooperation, and work with the international community to push forward the cause of poverty reduction and to achieve common development.
Kenyatta expressed that the Kenyan side highly values the relations with China and is grateful for China’s long-time help and support. Kenya is willing to learn from China for the experience of development, to promote practical cooperation in key fields, to jointly cope with challenges so as to upgrade Kenya-China relationship and Africa-China relations to a higher level.
