Organizers chose the "reunion of the whole country" as the theme of this year's show. The gala includes 40 items, divided into three main parts: song and dance, short comedy, and opera and folk art. Highlights include ethnic dance, and pop singers from Hong Kong. The gala will be televised live on New Year's Eve on Tuesday night. Viewers can tune in starting 8:00 pm Beijing time. Those who want a permanent record of the event will be able to buy the official CD and DVD in shops on New Year's Day.
