1. China open to Africa cooperation with US

China on Friday said it held an open attitude towards discussion with the United States on cooperation with Africa.

"China and the United States are important cooperative partners, and have their respective characteristics and advantages on cooperation with Africa," said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Weimin at a regular press briefing in reaction to the new Africa strategy released by US President Barack Obama.


2. Africa-China Young Leaders Forum to open

The second Africa-China Young Leaders Forum is scheduled for June 18 -20 in Beijing. Cao Baijuan, director of the Africa Department of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a news conference on June 12, 2012, reported.

The second Africa-China Young Leaders Forum is co-hosted by the CPC and Namibia's SWAPO Party. More than 300 delegates from China and 39 African countries are expected at the event. The theme is "Africa-China cooperation and development of youths." Top leaders from China and Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia and South Africa will attend the forum and deliver keynote speeches.


3. China, central Africa pledge closer military ties

Senior military official Guo Boxiong met on Tuesday with Jean-Francis Bozize, defense minister of the Central African Republic (CAR), to discuss the expansion of military ties.

Bilateral relations have recovered rapidly and seen comprehensive development since the two countries resumed diplomatic ties in 1998, said Guo, who is vice chairman of the Central Military Commission.


4. Zimbabwe Invited to China-Africa Business Conference

The Zimbabwe business community has been invited to participate at the fourth session Forum of China-Africa Co-operation slated for Beijing from July 18 to 19. The China Council for Promotion of Trade and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce will co-host the event, aimed at promoting co-operation as well as strengthening understanding and communication between Chinese and African entrepreneurs.


5. China to deepen service sector co-op with Africa

China will further deepen cooperation with Africa in the service trade and infrastructure sector, vice minister of commerce Li Jinzao said Tuesday.

The country also plans to expand its investment in Africa in the sectors of finance, tourism, aviation and power generation, Li said at Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services.


6. Chinese vice president meets Kenyan counterpart

Vice President Xi Jinping said Tuesday that China is satisfied with the fruitful development of China-Kenya relations and is ready to lift the ties to new levels.Xi made the remark as he met with Kenyan Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka in the Great Hall of the People.

During the meeting, Xi said fast growing trade and economic cooperation make up an important part of China-Kenya relations. Two-way trade reached 2.43 billion U.S. dollars in 2011, increasing 33 percent from the previous year. Chinese companies had invested 250 million U.S. dollars in Kenya by the end of 2011.
