Chinese Government Delegation Spoke at the 1st UN Habitat Assembly

Vice Minister Ni Hong of the Chinese Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development spoke at the first session of the UN-Habitat Assembly as head of the Chinese government delegation on May 28th. He said that the theme of the session reflects the beautiful wish of the international community to improve people’s lives through innovation, reaffirming that innovation has been an important concept upheld and practised by China in pursuing a new type of urbanization, and that it has always been the goal of the Chinese government to improve people’s lives. He gave a briefing about China’s experience in the work related to housing and urban-rural sustainable development, and put forward suggestions and ideas on the future direction of UN Habitat and related global issues.

The Chinese delegation also met with the Russian delegation headed by its Minister for Construction, Housing and Utilities, exchanging views on habitat cooperation and the hosting of World Cities Day. The two delegations also attended a sideline event of World Cities Day 2019 jointly organized by China and Russia.
