Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Tuesday reaffirmed government confidence that it would maintain stable and fast economic growth despite the global economic downturn.

   In talks with Peru's First Vice President Luis Giampietri Rojas in Beijing, Xi said China was committed to contributing to the recovery and healthy development of the world economy and finance.

    Xi and Giampietri witnessed the signing of a China-Peru free trade agreement (FTA) in the Great Hall of the People, which was referred by Xi as a "new milestone" in the development of bilateral trade ties.
