Chinese Government Provide Humanitarian Aid to the Kenyan Red Cross Society

January 28th, 2008, Nairobi. Ambassador Zhang Ming handed over a humanitarian aid of 300,000 US Dollars to the Red Cross Society of Kenya, to support its efforts for helping the displaced Kenyans caused by the post-election chaos.

In his remark, Ambassador Zhang Ming said that the humanitarian aid was to express the sympathy and goodwill from the Chinese government and its people towards the Kenyan people, and he also believed Kenya could get out of the difficulties soon.

Mr. Abbas Gullet, Secretary General of the Red Cross Society of Kenya, received the check from Ambassador Zhang and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the generosity of the Chinese Government.

Earlier, on 5th January, the local Chinese community donated 30,000 USD to the Red Cross Society of Kenya which was the first contribution after the post-election chaos, and the Chinese Red Cross Society also provided a humanitarian aid of 50,000 USD to the Red Cross Society of Kenya in mid January.
