Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Wu Peng Met with Kenyan Foreign and Health Ministers

On 16th March, Amb. Wu Peng met with Amb. Raychelle Omamo, CS of Foreign Affairs, and Hon. Mutahi Kagwe, CS of Health. They discussed COVID-19 outbreak and response.

CS Omamo and CS Kagwe congratulated China over its impressive achievements in controlling COVID-19 epidemic, and thanked China for its valuable support to the entire world including Africa in controlling the pandemic. At present, there are three confirmed cases in Kenya, for which Kenya has taken related measures. However, Kenya needs to be fully prepared for the outbreak of the epidemic. They said that China has the best experience and capability in controlling epidemics, and requested China to offer valuable help to Kenya in preventing and controlling the disease.


Amb. Wu gave a briefing on China’s work in controlling COVID-19 and the new risks of import of this disease, saying that China takes the challenge facing African countries in epidemic control very seriously, and reiterating China’s readiness to support Kenya and other countries in this global challenge while fighting the disease in China.


Amb. Wu said that since the outbreak of the disease, Chinese citizens travelling to Kenya quarantined themselves for 14 days after entry. China hopes that Kenya will make every effort to fully protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens in Kenya.
