1. Briefing on COVID-19 cases in China

According to China's National Health Commission and the State Council inter-agency task force, the latest development of COVID-19 cases in China's mainland is as follows:

(1)  March 8 saw 1 fatality and 4 newly confirmed cases excluding Hubei province, all of which were imported cases. There has been no case of local transmission excluding Hubei province for 2 consecutive days.

(2) In Hubei Province, newly confirmed cases dropped to 36, and they were all reported in Wuhan. Other cities in Hubei Province reported ZERO newly confirmed cases for 4 days in a row. 1,422 more patients were discharged from hospitals.

(3) 29 provinces (out of 31) reported ZERO newly confirmed cases.

(4) As of 24:00 on March 8 (Beijing Time), 80,735 confirmed cases have been reported, including 58,600 cured cases and 3,119 fatalities.

 

2. 12 of 14 mobile cabin hospitals in Wuhan have been closed as of March 9. Those hospitals have been operating for 34 days, and treated more than 12,000 patients with mild symptoms.

 

3. Some schools opened on March 9 in Qinghai province. Qinghai is one of the first provinces to announce ZERO newly confirmed case and has kept the record for 32 consecutive days. 

 

4. A team of 7 Chinese experts has arrived in Iraq to help fight the COVID-19 outbreak.
