Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Wu Peng Addressed China-Kenya-UK Trilateral Business MOU Signing Ceremony

A MOU signing ceremony between Kenya China Economic and Trade Association, British Chamber of Commerce Kenya, and Kenyan Private Sector Alliance was held at the Chinese embassy in Kenya on October 31st, aimed at providing a framework and promote cooperation, and advance ties between businesses of China, UK and Kenya.

Amb. Wu Peng, Economic Minister Counselor Guo Ce, British High Commissioner to Kenya Jane Marriott,, UN resident Coordinator Siddharth Chatterjee, Counselor Joel Hamann from the French embassy, representatives of the Kenyan Foreign Ministry and EU Mission to Kenya, and leaders of business associations in Kenya were present at the ceremony.

Amb. Wu congratulated the signing of the MOU, expecting the three parties to score more cooperation achievements in the future. He said that he was happy to see Chinese businesses developing trilateral cooperation with businesses of Kenya and another country through various forms, hoping that more businesses and associations will enter into trilateral cooperation agreements with Chinese businesses, and jointly contribute to Kenya’s economic development.

Amb. Wu shared China’s experience in developing the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, hoping that it might offer some insight to Kenya’s efforts to build special economic zones. He said that it is a good approach to pool resources and offer preferential policies for special economic zones, which can help to improve infrastructure, generate a cluster effect, lower investment risks, and build up a complete industrial chain in Kenya.

Amb. Wu said that China will host the second Import Expo in Shanghai in November, expecting Kenyan businesses to make good use of the opportunity to bring more quality products to China to benefit the two peoples, create jobs, and promote sustained economic growth in Kenya.
