Charge d 'affaires Zhao Xiyuan Meets with UNIDO Director General

Charge d 'affaires Zhao Xiyuan of the Chinese embassy to Kenya met with a delegation headed by Li Yong, director general of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on August 19th. UNIDO director of the Department of Programmes, Partnerships and Field Integration Mr Ciyong Zou and Mr. Dejene Tezera , director of Department of Agri-Business were present at the meeting.

Charge d 'affaires Zhao expressed appreciation to UNIDO over its efforts to help developing countries to realize inclusive and sustainable industrial development, and briefed the guests on China-Kenya relations and their cooperation in infrastructure and manufacturing, saying that the Chinese government attaches high importance to Africa’s industrialization efforts, and is willing to explore third-party cooperation with UNIDO under the framework of South-South cooperation to support Kenya’s industrialization process.

Director General Li briefed Zhao about his trip to Kenya and UNIDO’s programme in Kenya, elaborating on UNIDO’s successful Programme for Country Partnership in Ethiopia, expressing the organization’s willingness to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China to promote Kenya’s industrialization, and to contribute to Kenya’s efforts to achieve Vision 2030 and Big Four Agenda.
