Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Wu Peng Met with Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Industry, Trade & Cooperatives

On 9th May, Amb. Wu Peng paid a courtesy call on Hon. Peter Munya, CS for Ministry of Industry, Trade & Cooperatives, and exchanged views on China-Kenya economic and trade cooperation and major bilateral projects. Commercial Counsellor Guo Ce was present at the meeting.

Amb. Wu thanked Hon. Peter Munya for his efforts to promote China-Kenya economic and trade cooperation, and briefed him on the preparation for the first China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the second China International Import Expo, which would be a great opportunity for Kenya to increase its export to China. He expressed the hope that Kenya can further improve its business environment to facilitate the investment of Chinese businesses in the country, and reaffirmed that the Chinese embassy will continue to strengthen communication and coordination with the Ministry to jointly bring about more tangible outcomes in bilateral trade cooperation.

On his part, Hon. Peter Munya congratulated Ambassador Wu on his assumption of office, and thanked China for its long-term contribution to promoting Kenya’s social and economic development and creating jobs for local people. He expressed the hope that Chinese businesses could expand investment in Kenya, and take an active part in Kenya’s development of industrial parks and the manufacturing sector. He emphasized that Kenya highly values its economic and trade cooperation with China, and is willing to work together with the Chinese embassy to make unremitting efforts to deepen China-Kenya business cooperation.
