Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Called on Kenyan MFA Principal Secretary

Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Wu Peng called upon Amb. Macharia Kamau, Principal Secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 2 upon his arrival, exchanging views on implementing the outcomes achieved through the visit of President Kenyatta to China to attend the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF). Minister Counselor Zhao Xiyuan of the Chinese embassy was present at the meeting.

Amb. Kamau congratulated Ambassador Wu on his assumption of office, and spoke highly of the considerable progress made in recent years in Kenya-China relations. He thanked China for inviting President to attend the second BRF, reaffirming that the visit proved a full success. He emphasized that the meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Kenyatta further strengthened the strategic relations between Kenya and China. The Kenyan MFA is committed to further close coordination with the Chinese embassy to implement the outcomes of the BRF and bring Kenya-China practical cooperation to a higher level.

Amb. Wu said that President Kenyatta traveled to China three times within one year and met with President Xi, which shows the strategic nature and high level of China-Kenya relations. The Chinese embassy thanks the Kenyan MFA for the efforts it has put in for effective communication to ensure the success of President Kenyatta's visit to China to attend the BRF, and looks forward to continued cooperation with the MFA, so as to implement the outcomes of the Summit to bring comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Kenya to a higher level.
