Welcome to the official website of the Chinese Embassy in Kenya.

Kenya is one of the cradles of mankind, with the Equator and Great Rift Valley running through the country. It's blessed with picturesque scenery and pleasant climate, and is world-famous for its rich wildlife resources. The hardworking and friendly Kenyan people of 44 tribes live in harmony. Since its independence in 1963, Kenya has witnessed sustainable economic and social development, and become the center for business, finance, international affairs and an important transportation hub in East Africa. The UNEP and UN-Habitat are headquartered in Nairobi, making Kenya the only developing country that hosts an UN headquarter.

The friendly contacts between our two countries can be traced back over 600 years when the fleets led by the great Chinese navigator Zheng He visited Kenyan coast four times, bringing silk, porcelain and friendship. Nowadays, the Porcelain Coast of Kenya is still telling the stories about the China-Africa exchanges and friendship. After Kenya's declaration of independence, China was among one of the first countries to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Kenya. In recent years, China-Kenya relations have maintained a good momentum, with frequent visits at all levels, and expanded and deepened cooperation in all sectors. In 2017, H.E Chinese President Xi Jinping and H.E Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta reached consensus on upgrading China-Kenya relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, which has set the new direction for bilateral relations and instilled it with vigor and vitality. As one of the earliest achievements of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Mombasa-Nairobi SGR has been completed and put into operation. The development of China-Kenya relations has withstood the test of time and is exemplary for China-Africa cooperation.

It is my great honor to be appointed the 16th Chinese ambassador to Kenya, and also the permanent representative to UNEP and UN-Habitat. The Chinese Embassy in Kenya remains committed to pushing forward the friendly exchanges and cooperation between our two countries and peoples. While striving to achieve sound and healthy development of bilateral relations, we will be devoted to protecting the lawful rights and interests of overseas Chinese nationals, fulfilling our duties and meeting the expectations of our people.

We hope this website can help you learn more about China and the China-Kenya relations. Your interest in China and support to China-Kenya friendship will be highly appreciated.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Kenya

                                                                                                                                                                    Wu Peng
