The Chinese Government provides grants to help Kenyan IDPs

September 26, 2008, Nairobi. Chinese Ambassador Zhang Ming and Hon. John Michuki, acting Minister for Finance of Kenya signed an exchange of notes on the provision of grants at the treasury building. Hon. Naomi Shaban, Minister of state for Special Program also attended the signing ceremony.

According to the agreement, the Chinese Government will provide a package of urgent humanitarian aid with one million USD in cash and a batch of corrugated iron sheet worth of 1.8 million USD to the Kenyan government so as to support the recovery of economic development and particularly resettlement of the Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Kenya.
