Information on Document Authentication

Documents issued in the Republic of Kenya to be used in China, such as Affidavit of Marital Status, school record, Personal Identification Certificate, Trade Mark Registration, etc. should be authenticated by the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Kenya before they are sent to China.

 

The payments are: 1,500 kshs per civil document and 2,700 kshs per document regarding property, finance or business.

 

* Procedures are as follows:

  1.  Documents should first be notarized by a local Notary Public.

  2. The notarized document should be authenticated by the Legal Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya.

3. The Chinese Embassy authenticates the signature of the Legal Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

*Please be noted that documents should be in original shape when submitted. Applicants should not take apart the original documents (notarized or authenticated) or stitch some other pages to the original documents, and should bear all responsibility aroused.

 

* Requirements

Applicants are required to submit the following materials to the Embassy:

 1.  Original documents to be authenticated;

 2. One photocopy of the complete documents to be authenticated. Photocopy includes the page authenticated by the Legal Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya, the page notarized by a Notary Public and the original document.

3. One completely filled out Application Form for Authentication or Notarization.

4.  In cases of commercial authentication, a copy of the company's license and Certificate of Incorporation are also required.
