In order to reduce the risk of the cross-border transmission of COVID-19, the Chinese Embassy in Kenya issued the Notice on Airline Boarding Requirements for Certificates of Negative Nucleic Acid and Anti-Body Test Results on 31 October 2020, indicating that transiting passengers to China must apply at the Chinese Embassies/Consulates in BOTH departing country and transiting country for green health codes with the “HS” mark or green health declaration codes with the “HDC” mark (hereinafter referred to as the “green codes”).
Recently, quite a number of positive cases have been detected among the passengers taking direct flights from Kenya to China, which almost led to suspension of flights. In order to further reduce the risk of the cross-border transmission of COVID-19, starting from 27 January 2021, passengers transiting through Kenya to China yet to obtain the green codes issued by the Chinese Embassies/Consulates in departing country, should apply for the green codes at Chinese Embassy in Kenya by providing TWO separate negative nucleic acid test results and TWO separate negative IgM antibody test results.
-The two nucleic acid tests must be conducted respectively by 2 institutions among the 6 institutions designated by the Chinese Embassy in Kenya.
-The two IgM antibody tests, if conducted by single institution, must have more than 12 hours of interval.
-All 4 tests must have the specimen collected and tested within 2 days before boarding China-bound flights. When applying for the green codes, please use the date when the earliest specimen is collected as the date of collection.
-The information of departing country must be filled in truthfully.
-The Chinese Embassy in Kenya will issue the green codes based on the 4 negative results and other relevant information provided.
